For 2026, this singing will be held in a small pavilion on the Folk School grounds. The pavilion is not itself accessible, but a wheelchair user could sit right outside of the pavilion and still participate.
Details
This singing is part of the John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival, which is a major annual event that draws thousands of people from around the region. The day will be split into two parts. From 11 am to 1 pm we will sing out of The Christian Harmony (2010), starting with a 30-minute singing school and proceeding into 90 minutes of arranged singing. We will repeat the process from 2 pm to 4 pm using The Sacred Harp (2025).
The Fall Festival is a ticketed event. However, a small number of free passes (admission/parking plus lunch) are available to singers. Please contact esther.morgan-ellis [at] ung.edu if you plan to attend.
Participants can bring their own lunch or purchase food at the festival food tent. Please plan extra time for parking, which can take up to 45 minutes on Saturday morning. However, it's worth it--this is a great festival and you will have time to walk around and enjoy the craft vendors, demonstrations, and musical performances.
